Bob Dylan completa hoje 70 anos — SENHORES DA GUERRA

Vós, senhores da guerra
Que construís canhões
Que construís aviões da morte
Que construís grandes bombas
Que vos escondeis atrás de muros
Que vos escondeis atrás de secretárias
Quero que saibam
Que vejo através das vossas máscaras

Vós, que jamais fizestes outra coisa
Para além de construir para destruir
Jogais com o meu mundo
Como se fosse um brinquedo
Dais-me uma arma na mão
E escondeis-vos do meu olhar
E virais as costas e fugis bem depressa
Quando as rápidas balas cruzam o ar

Como o velho Judas
Mentis e enganais
Quereis que acredite
Que uma guerra mundial pode ter vencedor
Mas vejo para além dos vossos olhos
E vejo para além da vossa mente
Como vejo através da água
Que escorre pelo meu cano de esgoto

Vós preparais os gatilhos
Para que outros os puxem
Depois recostais-vos e apreciais
Quando o número de mortos aumenta
Escondeis-vos nas vossas mansões
Enquanto o sangue escorre
Dos corpos dos jovens
E se mistura com a lama

Vós espalhastes o pior pavor
Que poderia ser lançado
O medo de trazer crianças
Ao mundo
E por ameaçar meu filho
Não nascido e sem nome
Vós não valeis o sangue
Que corre em vossas veias

Eu sei de muitas coisas
Para falar fora da minha vez
Talvez me chameis de jovem
Ou de ignorante
Mas há algo que sei
Embora seja mais novo que vós
Mesmo Jesus jamais
Perdoaria o que fazeis

Quero perguntar-vos algo

"Close your eyes, close the door
You don’t have to worry anymore
    I’ll be your baby tonight

Shut the light, shut the shad
You don’t have to be afraid
    I’ll be your baby tonight

Well, that mockingbird’s gonna sail away
    We’re gonna forget it
That big, fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon
    But we’re gonna let it
    You won’t regret it

Kick your shoes off, do not fear
    Bring that bottle over here
    I’ll be your baby tonight"

    My favourite.

  6. Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
    You that hide behind walls
    You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

    You that never done nothin'
    But build to destroy
    You play with my world
    Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
    When the fast bullets fly.

    Like Judas of old
    You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
    You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
    That runs down my drain.

    You fasten all the triggers
    For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
    You hide in your mansion'
    As young people's blood
    Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

    You've thrown the worst fear
    That can ever be hurled
    Fear to bring children
    Into the world
    For threatening my baby
    Unborn and unnamed
    You ain't worth the blood
    That runs in your veins.

    How much do I know
    To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
    You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
    Though I'm younger than you
    That even Jesus would never
    Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
    Is your money that good
    Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
    I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
    All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
    And your death'll come soon
    I will follow your casket
    In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
    Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead.

  7. Tal como a Teté diz, ao sabor do vento ou blowing in the wind eu prefiro de longe o filme do século "E tudo o Villas-Boas levou"...

    ;)
